Pool and spa equipment repair in San Jose, CA

Pool pumps, filter and plumbing on an equipment pad.

Pool & Spa Equipment Repair

Pool and spa equipment repair

We find the actual cause, explain it in plain words, and fix it the right way.

Most pool problems start on the equipment pad: a pump that will not prime, a filter running at high pressure, a heater that will not fire, a light that went out, a control panel that lost its settings. We repair all of it, on pools we maintain and on pools we do not.

Customers tell us what they value is the explanation. Before we fix something we tell you what failed, why, and what your options are.

What we look at

Inside the equipment.

The parts we check first, and what each one tells us when it starts to go.

Pump and motor
  1. Strainer basket. Catches debris before the impeller. A cracked lid or worn o-ring lets air in and the pump loses prime.
  2. Impeller housing. Where clogs and wear show up as weak flow and noise.
  3. Shaft seal. The usual source of a slow drip under the pump. Cheap to replace early, costly if it takes the motor with it.
  4. Motor. Humming, screaming or tripping the breaker point to bearings, capacitors or the motor itself.
Filter
  1. Pressure gauge. The first thing we read. Pressure creeping up means the filter needs cleaning or something downstream is blocked.
  2. Tank clamp. Holds the tank halves together under pressure. Checked and seated properly every time the filter is opened.
  3. Cartridge elements. Cleaned on a schedule, replaced when torn or worn out. Most clarity problems start here.
  4. Drain. Lets the tank empty for service. A worn plug or o-ring is a small leak worth fixing.
Heater
  1. Exhaust vent. Has to stay clear. Nests, debris and soot here affect how the heater fires.
  2. Control board. Error codes tell us where to start: ignition, pressure, flow or temperature.
  3. Heat exchanger. Water chemistry matters most here. Scale and corrosion shorten its life.
  4. Burner tray. Cleaned and checked when a heater clicks but will not light, or lights and drops out.
Automation panel
  1. Controller. Schedules, spa mode, heat settings and app control. We program it for how you use the pool.
  2. Relays. Switch the pump, lights and heater. A failed relay looks like a dead pump.
  3. Valve actuator. Turns the valves between pool and spa. When spa mode stops working, we check here first.
  4. Temperature sensor. Tells the system the real water temperature. A bad reading means a cold spa or a heater that never stops.

Worth a call

Signs it is time to call

  • Pump humming, screaming or running with no water moving
  • Filter pressure climbing even after a cleaning
  • Water around the equipment pad
  • Heater clicking but never lighting
  • Spa slow to heat or jets weak
  • Control panel showing errors or losing its schedule
